Send one piece of prose or between three and seven poems only per issue, with two or three line bio. Publishes short fiction and novel extracts up to 4000 words. Prefers email subsmissions (see website for appropriate addresses and full submission guidelines). Also accepts books for review and essays.Wants to see transgressive works dealing with madness, sex, death, disease, and the like; the clash of archaic with modern day; archetype, symbolism, Surrealism, philosophy, physics, existential and postmodern flavoring; experimental or flagrantly textured language; alternative poetry; alternative poetry in classical form; intense crafting of language from the writer's writer.
Does not want mainstream storytelling; rhyming couplets; Oprah fiction; Internet/chat language and symbol-speak; poetry or fiction without caps or punctuation; hot trends; all genre fiction including horror, sci-fi, crime, western, vampire, romance, erotica, etc.; high school fiction or poetry; chick lit lite; ethnic lit where hip ethnicity supercedes universality; excess flipness or irony.
Essays should be on literary topics only: writers, literature, philosophy, literary history, the literary approach, etc.
