I signed a contract with this agent in late October. Updates have been prompted by me. There was no success in his placing my manuscript. The agent has no sales record. There was also time wasted placing with him, when it could have been better spent looking for another agent. He offered no editorial comments, either. All in all, a big waste of time.

James Haversham requested my manuscript and after reading it sent me a letter and contract. The letter was very professional and included a complete bio and qualifications. I accepted the contract and did pay $50.00 for photocopy and mailing expenses. Even though he was unsuccessful in placing the book with a publisher his correspondance was above board and professional. I will probably query him again in the future.

I answered this agency's request for submissions and was asked for the ms with a reply promised in 15 days. They accepted it.

How can an agency soliciting submissions guarantee to read them all in 15 days? I doubt they looked beyond a line or two. My scepticism increased in noting their acceptance letter was designed for any material, without one reference to specific ms content. And though they have no reading fee, they do charge up-front for general'administration'. I refused the contract.
