What a lovely man Mr Jeffrey's is. He phoned me in response to my E mail. He was so apologetic that he could not do justice to my material because of not being as active as he once was, and his busy workload. He was encouraging and affirming about my manuscript. Yes disappointing, but least he took the time to explain his reasons, unlike some who just send standard rejection letter. !0 years ago he said he could have placed the book no problem. Told me not to give up, it will happen! Nice man.

Received a similar response as to the others, "heavy workload", unable to do it "justice", etc - this reads like a form letter given the previous authors feedback, and thus sounds somewhat insincere. At least the response was immediate, thus a neutral rating; I would be surprised, however, if my query was fully read.

Responded immediately despite telling me unable to consider any further submissions in crime genre at present. Great to get such a quick response.
