How to apply for a refund

Most payments to firstwriter.com (such as competition entry fees and subscription fees) are non-refundable.

However, firstwriter.com will always provide a refund in any situation where it can be demonstrated that it has failed to operate in accordance with the terms and conditions laid out on the website.

If you believe this is the case you can apply for a refund on a subscription payment by completing the form at https://www.firstwriter.com/refunds/. You will need to identify the specific part of the terms and conditions you believe firstwriter.com has violated, and you will need to provide evidence to support your claim.

For example: if you were unable to access the subscribers' area for a period of time because firstwriter.com failed to respond to a query you sent within the required timescale you would need to indicate the section of the terms and conditions violated, and provide evidence. This evidence could simply be a copy of the email you sent and a copy of the auto-response email from our server, as this proves both that you sent the query and that our servers received it. You would then be provided with an appropriate refund related to the length of time you were without service.

Of course, if we are able to identify a lapse in service from our own records you would still be awarded with a refund, even if you cannot provide supporting evidence.

Please note that we cannot award refunds on the grounds that you meant to canel your subscription but forgot to.

It is also important that you do not attempt to dispute or reverse a payment through any third party. Not only would you immediately lose your right to refund, but you would still have to pay the original amount, plus a Disputed Payment Fee.

To apply for a refund of a competition fee please contact us through https://www.firstwriter.com/contactus, providing details of the payment and explaining why you think a refund is required.
