Account suspension – Max IP limit
For your security, our system constantly monitors access to accounts to detect any unusual activity.
Part of this involves monitoring the IP addresses used to access the site using any given set of login details. (An IP address is like a telephone number with which a computer accesses the internet.)
If there are an unusually high number of different IP addresses accessing the same account within any 24-hour period this might mean that the login details have been compromised. Our system will automatically suspend the account and alert the account holder and firstwriter.com staff. A firstwriter.com operative will then attend to the matter as soon as possible – within two working days at most, but normally within a matter of hours.
While this pattern suggests your password may have been compromised, it could also be caused by other factors, for instance if you have been accessing the site from multiple PCs. It may also be down to a combination of your Internet Provider and your method of surfing. If you repeatedly disconnect and reconnect while browsing firstwriter.com it fools our system into thinking lots of different computers are trying to access it using the same account. To avoid this we recommend connecting to the internet before accessing the site and then not disconnecting from the internet until you have finished using the site.
If your account has been suspended for this reason then a firstwriter.com operative will look into the matter as soon as possible and will normally re-activate your account and issue you with a new password. You should change this password as soon as possible, but do not change it back to your original password, in case this has become compromised.
