Description

Poems by members only, except winners of our annual open poetry competition.

The society was founded in 1976, two of our Founder Members still playing an active part in the running of the Society, which presently has a membership of over 100, with members from all over the country and from abroad.

The Society produces a quarterly magazine, 'Salopeot', in which members can see their poems published, provided they do not contain anything too political, religious, or anything of a pornographic nature.

The Society holds monthly meetings, usually at the homes of members living in the local area, to read their own and other poetry. The meetings are informal and always include lively discussion on the merits of the poetry read and are followed by a buffet supper.

The poems printed in the magazine are chosen by a panel of six Officers of the Society and although the standard of poetry published is very high, we do encourage novices by including some poems which show promise.
