Additional information

Formed in mid 2007 to help overcome some of the genuine frustration and feeling of helplessness felt by so many first time writers trying to get their book published.
We have a wide range of interests including most fiction and non fiction, however other agents may be better equipped to deal with your serious poetry or short story and we are very unlikely to get excited about hard core sci-fi or your fantasy or horror story.
If you wish us to treat you as a serious writer you should follow the advice given on our website when sending us your submission.

firstwriter.com note: On May 19, 2008, firstwriter.com received positive feedback for this agency left by an account paid for by this agency, which is operated under the agent's name, and an email address that includes the agent's first and last names. The feedback was left under a pseudonym which differed from the name on the account, and did not make explicit any connection between the agency and the person leaving the feedback. While firstwriter.com does not suggest any impropriety, we advise users to exercise caution when approaching this agency, as the only two comparable instances in firstwriter.com's history both involved known scams, including the notorious Hill & Hill Literary Agency, which was exposed as a scam when they attempted to leave positive feedback for themselves on firstwriter.com.

Statement from John King, May 28, 2008: "A writer John Burrett used our computor to place a postive comments about us on your site. At the time he had just agreed the final design of the cover with us and was justifibly pleased with us.
You then unfairly compare us with two scams.

We agreed to publish John Burrett's book 'One Game Too Many' at no cost to him because we believed it should be published even though it may not commercially viable. The market for this book is in New Zealand, maybe Australia and no doubt very small."

Clients: Meriel Brooke, Carol Tetlow, Andrew Dickinson, Marie Brown, Stuart Rickard, Stuart Thorogood, John Burrett, Colin Janes, Michael Hingston, Janis Ford, Andrew Murrison MP, David Martin, Dan Smale
