It was a rejection, but it came back the same day, which enabled me to press on with my serach for an agent. Helpful.

Seemed to get a faster response than other feedback (couple of weeks), and though it was a form letter they at least acknowledged it as such and apologised for using it!

I wrote a simple query letter to see if they were open to accepting new clients and would they like to read the opening chapters of my book.
Back came a standard reply saying they had considered my material carefully and it wasn't suitable for them.
I hadn't sent them any material!
